Alternative Christmas Market – Sunday, December 4 at 11:30 a.m.

On Sunday, December 4th, we will be holding our  Annual Alternative Christmas Market.  Five organizations have provided “shopping lists” that will give gifts that fit the meaning of the season.  You will receive a shopping list from which to select items to purchase as ‘gifts’.  These ‘gifts’ are monetary donations to a specific organization to provide a specific item.  You then can purchase a gift card to give to friend or family member, indicating your ‘gift’ in their name.

If you cannot be with us December 4th, please pick up a shopping list from the narthex and turn it in to the office or to a Mission Committee member.  We hope you will join us in Fellowship Hall for our Annual Alternative Christmas Market!

Our 2011 vendors offer gifts that will serve:

Agape House

Habitat for Humanity

Healing the Children

Heifer Project

Penfield Children’s Center

Our lives are not enriched by how much we have, but how much we enjoy sharing it with others.

Refreshments will be served in a Festive and Holiday Atmosphere!

Going Deep and Wide for the Waukesha Food Pantry

The past couple of months, we have been gathering food for the Waukesha Food Pantry.  It came to our attention, that the pantry gives out on a DAILY basis 1o0 boxes of cereal, 300 cans of soup, vegetables, and fruit EACH!!  So, we worked hard and shopped even harder to provide for the least of these among us.  Here’s the total of what we were able to accumulate:

86 boxes of cereal; 322 cans of vegetables; 100 cans of fruit

23 jars of peanut butter; 154 cans of soup;  4 canned hams

49 cans of tuna; 36 rolls of toilet tissue; 47 pkgs. of ravioli/spaghetti

3 jars of spaghetti sauce; 17 pkg. of pasta; 1 bag of flour; 58 pkg. of mac ‘n cheese

1 pkg. jello; 1 bag Doritos; 1 bath bomb & Misc. toiletries

Bless all who helped… and keep those donations coming!

Thanksgiving Worship & Potluck Dinner

During our Thanksgiving Worship & Potluck we enjoyed storytelling from scriptures and a grand feast!  Go to our Facebook page to see the pictures and to Pastor Julie’s blog for some reflections on the meaningful experience of gathering before God in Thanksgiving.

Trunk or Treat

Picture from our first annual Trunk or Treat event are posted on our Facebook page.  Check them out!

“Trunk or Treat” – October 31, 5:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Yes, you read it right… “Trunk or Treat”.  On Halloween day,  BPC is holding a community event for our neighborhood  by sponsoring a “Trunk or Treat” event in our parking lot.  The event will be held during the regularly scheduled hours of Brookfield’s Trick or Treat, 5:00 – 7:30 p.m.

Okay, so what is “Trunk or Treat”???  We adults certainly enjoy seeing our neighborhood kids dressed up in costumes, but occasionally we long for the day when we were the ones doing the dressing up.  So, “Trunk or Treat” is an opportunity for us adults to dress up the trunk of our car in a halloween costume (and ourselves if we so wish) and then have a party in the parking lot with all of our ‘trunks’ facing each other.  It is certainly a lot of fun to see all the creativity… and more importantly, to see the joy of our neighborhood kids as they see how the adults are joining them in dressing up.   This community event is a time for fun, fellowship, and making new friends in our neighborhood–so don’t miss it!!

Oh, and I almost forgot… there will be LOTS of candy and goodies for the real Trick or Treaters!!!

“Cover the Cost of Disaster” event a SUCCESS!!!

BPC friends and family enjoyed a beautiful day on 9.11.11. Our Tailgate Potluck and “Cover the Cost of Disaster” Raffle Fundraiser were a great success! We thank all who provided for and participated in the day’s events. Through your generosity, we raised $501.00 for Presbyterian Disaster Assistance. Presbyterian Disaster Assistance (PDA) is the emergency and refugee program of the PC(USA) PDA is funded through One Great Hour of Sharing and additionally funded through designated gifts. PDA enables congregations and mission partners of the PC(U.S.A.) to witness to the healing love of Christ through caring for communities adversely affected by crisis and catastrophes.

Our fall kick-off had fun prizes, great food, a successful fundraiser and warm fellowship. See the Raffle winners in our October newsletter or on our Facebook page.  A BIG THANK YOU to the Mission Committee and everyone who supported this special event.
