At this service, we will dedicate our PC(USA) Pentecost Offering–40% of which will go directly to Agape House in Walworth, WI, for their Christian ministry to young women.  Additionally, we will receive with grateful thanks all of the many ‘birthday presents’ for BPC that will help support that ordinary, yet important, aspects of this particular gathering of Jesus’ followers.

We invite you to join us, as we worship our Lord, celebrate our many blessings, and dedicate ourselves once again to the ministry God call us to.

We welcome Christine and Allison as our newest members at BPC.  On May 20th these young women professed their faith as they said YES to God’s promises.  Family, Mentors, and Teachers filled their chalices with water–as a reminder that there are many people who fill us with love and support and point the way to faith.  Yet, in the end we must each make our own profession… and here these young women pour their own chalice of water into the baptismal waters, symbolizing their becoming full members in the body of Christ.  Welcome to our Lord’s ministry and mission, Christine and Allison!!

 ‘How does being a Christian make a difference in your life?’ 

Many of us might have trouble coming up with something in a couple of seconds.  Yet, with training we can learn how to respond in ways that express our personal understanding that life is better, richer, truer if one has faith in Jesus Christ and lives in a faith community.  With training, we can learn to be more aware of God’s calling us into conversation with someone who opens the door to such a conversation.

As the joy of our Lord’s resurrection is still warm in our hearts we now embark in this covenanted time together on a ‘Journey of Learning’ to discover how to articulate what we seem to already know in the depth of our being—that life IS better, richer, truer when we have faith in Jesus Christ and participate in a faith community.

The book we are using to guide us through this process is Unbinding Your Heart and copies can be picked up in the church office.  If you miss any of the session, NO WORRIES!!  Simply come to the next lesson as you will be able to pick up through the reading materials anything you have missed!  Here are the next couple of lesson topics and meeting times.

Due to Mother’s Day on May 13, Confirmation on May 20, and Memorial Day weekend on May 27, our lessons will skip after May 6th into June.  However, the 40 days of Prayer in our lesson books will keep us on track and connected with our Prayer Partners.  (see page 115 for the prayer journal)

For Holy Week we encourage your children to join us in worship for the re-telling of our Lord’s story.

Palm Sunday, April 1st @ 10 am—We will wave palm branches and share in the sacrament of the Lord’s Supper as well as receive the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering.  

Maundy Thursday, April 5th at 7:00 pm – This special service will be a moving experience as we ponder the last evening Jesus shared with his  disciples.   The Living Last Supper, is a combination of choral pieces and dramatic monologues.  Holy Communion will be shared as we gather together and remember our Lord’s great gift.  Invite a friend to share in this re-telling of our story.

Good Friday, April 6th at 7:00 pm - A Tenebrae Service that commemorates Jesus’ seven last words from the cross.  Tenebrae, the Latin word for “darkness,” is an adaptation of an ancient service in which candles are lit at the opening of the service and then extinguished after each saying, commemorating the darkness at the time of the crucifixion. 

Easter Sunday, April 8th

8:00 a.m.  Easter Pancake Breakfast —Added to our Easter Sunday celebration this year will be an Easter Sunday Pancake Breakfast, hosted by the Mission Committee!  (This year’s version of our annual Lou Gauen Memorial Pancake Breakfast.)  You are invited to join us… and bring your family and friends!
